A writer’s life can seem mundane– butt goes in chair, fingers go on keyboard, coffee goes in mouth. Repeat.
But, we all know that there’s plenty of unseen magic that comes from the repetition of those three things. Sometimes we tell people what we’re up to, and sometimes we just keep working.
I wanted to take a minute and share some of my news with you– it’s been an exciting new year so far!
First, I am SO happy to announce that The Write Life selected Better Novel Project for their “100 Best Websites for Writers Award 2015.” I am ecstatic to be included in this list. Thank you so much for the nominations, the support, and for making this whole journey fun.
Guest Post on Blots & Plots
Second, I did a guest article for the Blots & Plots series, 15 Days to Writerly Awesome in 2015. Check out my post called “Three Reasons Writers Should Take a Walk.” (I tied it into the #writeandrun31 challenge. Keep reading for more about that!)
Next, if you are new to Better Novel Project, or you just want to see how shy/awkward I am in real life, check out this interview I did with Erik Marshall’s WET (Writing, Education & Technology) Podcast. We talk a lot about the writing process, the background on the project, building a platform, and more!
Oh hey, Instagram!
I just joined Instagram last month, and it’s really been wonderful to have an outlet for my cat photos and random pictures of me holding my kindle.
Seriously though, I was looking for a more personal way to connect with writers, since this site and my other social media accounts are more focused on analysis and craft. If you’re on Instagram, say hello (@betternovelproject) so that I can follow you and bask in your writerly goodness. Here’s a shot of my notes for last week’s post on Gatekeepers:
The #WriteAndRun31 Challenge that I am doing with my brother is still going strong! I’m posting daily writing prompts on our group facebook page, and there’s still time to get involved. It’s an extremely supportive group and any level of athletic/writing ability is welcome– all you need is a desire to build new habits.
Positive Writer’s Top 50 Writing Blogs
Update: Two days after publishing this post, I found out that Better Novel Project was selected for Positive Writer’s Top 50 Writing Blogs for 2015. This has been an incredible week, and an even more incredible first year for this site. I feel so lucky and humbled for this recognition. Thank you so much for reading and supporting my work!
What about you?
Phew, that’s enough about me. So what have you been up to? Share your good news in the comments.
I’ll be back next week with a new index card for the master outline.
