Like a lot of you, I’ve got resolutions to write more and to start running again.
Well, I’ve got some exciting news: my brother Matt and I decided to do our resolutions together this year. We’re hosting a 31-day challenge to jumpstart both our writing and our running habits.
One month. Two simple things. Every single day.
The rules are really simple: Write. Run. Every day, for 31 days in a row.
We’re calling it #writeandrun31.
You set your own minimums (consider going really small, and increasing as you go). Or if you don’t like running, replace it with whatever works for you, like yoga or a ten minute walk after dinner.
I’d love to have you join us. Everything you need to know is on a new site Matt set up yesterday, so take a look and see if it’s for you (totally free, by the way).
A little sibling backstory
You might know this already, but my big brother is a hero of mine. I watched him build his blog, www.NoMeatAthlete.com,
What you may not know is that after getting my creative writing degree, I worked as a baker in a vegan restaurant for a few years. During that time, I wrote a weekly dessert recipe and guest post for No Meat Athlete.
I didn’t just make recipes up– I usually looked at three other recipes for the same dish, categorized all the ingredients with labels (like wet, dry, acid, fat), and then looked at the overlaps, differences, and ratios. Once I figured out the core elements of a recipe, I could get creative with the rest. Sound familiar? 🙂 What can I say, deconstruction is in my blood. If you’re curious, check out my totally nerdy guide to vegan gluten-free baking or veggie burger formula.
Anyway, I am so excited to work with my brother again as we build daily habits and start 2015 off right.
P.S. I really do hope you join us. You don’t have to be a vegetarian or anything like that– just check out writeandrun31.com to get all the details and the link to the Facebook group, where I am posting daily writing prompts. 🙂
